I
just finished reading Brian
Froud's latest book, The
Runes of Elfland.
(So maybe he wasn't the
author, Ari Berk is.)
I am a huge Froud fan and
have been ever since the Dark
Crystal movie in the
80's. I have most
of his books. Even the
rare out of print
ones. Those of you who
are familiar with Frouds
work may find this book a
bit like the Goblins
of the Labyrinthin the
artworks simplicity.
Unlike the masterpiece, Good
Faeries, Bad Faeries,
you will not see any
intricate and supremely
detailed paintings and
illustrations. But no
worries! What you will
find are unique and lovable
characters who seem to be
simpler variation of our
favorites in Froud's
previous books. This
time, however, Froud has
captured a Norse mood.
The author, Ari Berk, has
done a fantastic job with
the Runes. The writing
is whimsical and at times
heart-warming. It's
really a lovely book and
worthy of adding to your
collection. But I may
be a bit biased as i love
anything with faeries and
adore Brian Froud.

I am a huge bookworm.
I really do read constantly. I hate going book shopping though because I
hate to buy a book and it end up something completely different than I
expected. I hope that my opinions on the books I review help someone else
choose a good book for them. If you have any questions or comments or your
own reviews, email me! I am more than happy to post your reviews
too. Thanks!
